Item description for True To You (Bradford Sisters Romance Book 1) by Becky Wade...Overview
After a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now.
Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. However, when John, an adoptee, is diagnosed with an inherited condition, he's forced to dig into the secrets of his ancestry.
John enlists Nora's help to uncover the identity of his birth mother, and as they work side by side, this pair of opposites begins to suspect that they just might be a perfect match. But can their hope for a future survive their wounds from the past?

Nora Nets Her SEAL Jul 19, 2017
If ever a hero was "swoon-worthy", Medal of Honor winner, John Lawson, is him. Subject of the book (and movie) "Uncommon Courage", John's exploits are the stuff of legend. When Nora Bradford meets him during a mock-hostage rescue, she's so stunned in his presence that she freezes and he's forced to carry her out. One sniff of John's manly scent and Nora loses her heart. Too bad he's already got a girlfriend. John's newly-diagnosed medical condition sends him on a search for his birth mother. Who better to help with that search than researcher-extraordinaire, Nora? As they work together, John is fascinated by Nora. Her vocabulary is a constant source of consternation and her fashion sense comes directly from the 50s and 60s - think Lucille Ball. Why then can't he stop thinking about her? Nora's self-esteem is in tatters after her fiancé's defection. The only place she feels confident is in her historic village - a gift from her father - and especially the library. She has no wish to be the "other woman" since her life had been damaged by one so she pours her heart into fictional men, especially the characters in her favorite PBS drama, "Northamptonshire." What happens when fiction meets fact and BOTH men of her dreams choose her? The twist in this story is a doozy and that's ALL I'll say about it! I laughed, I cried, I fumed, I rejoiced as I read Nora's story. This is a fabulous not-to-be-missed beginning to Becky Wade's Bradford sisters trilogy!
Becky Wade does it again Jun 2, 2017
Becky Wade is at it again with her latest series The Bradford Sisters. Book one in the series, True to You, captured me from the very beginning and held me through to the last page. Set in the pacific northwest area of Washington, True to You introduces readers to the Bradford family. The story focuses on Nora Bradford, the second of the three sisters. Nora is a brilliant genealogist and historian, and she just may love books and Northamptonshire—a historical drama—more than real love. After having her heartbroken three years prior, Nora decides to put love on the backburner for a while. John Lawson, a former Navy SEAL and adoptee, is on a different mission in life. Owner and operator of his own company, John strives for success. He has a great house on the water, a loving family, and a wonderful job. But his world begins to change when he is diagnosed with a hereditary condition. Because he is adopted, he must begin the process of discovering the identity of his birth parents. His genealogy will provide him with the answers he needs most. He hires Nora to help him with his search for his birth mom. They work together for several weeks, finding clues and following leads. Along the way, John and Nora begin to wonder if maybe—just maybe—they would make a good match. But before they can find the answer to that question—on top of the hunt they already have going on—they each must overcome the boundaries keeping them apart. Can they really do it? Having read all of Becky Wade’s books, I can safely say that I absolutely love her work. This novel was no different from the others as far as that goes. Full of mystery, history, and romance, I could hardly put it down. Nora was a relatable character for me, being a history major and bookworm myself, and her sisters were no less interesting. While this novel appeared to be separate from her Porter Family Series, Becky Wade left a little surprise in the novel, which made the two series have a loose connection. I was super excited to see this nugget, and I cannot wait for the next book to come out! All in all, if you love romance, mysteries, and all-around good books, you will love True to You. P.S:I would also recommend reading the novella Then Came You before reading the novel, as it helps to give a lot of background information. However, if you do not read the novella, you will not be lost at all. The novel just adds dimension to the three sisters’ parents.
Good Story May 29, 2017
“What's ultimately of more value is God's ability to strengthen us with power through His Spirit, so that we'll be able to deal with the circumstances He doesn't change” True to you, written by Becky Wade, is book one in A Bradford Sisters Romance series. Upon graduation Nora Bradford's father gave her a historical village. Nora has built up the village that now includes shops. Working in the library in the village, Nora has helped people go genealogy research. Former Navy SEAL John Lawson has been given a medical diagnoses that he wants more information about. John was adopted as a baby and the condition he has is genetic. He has decided to search for his birth parents. With Nora's help, he is able to find his mother. Nora and John develop a friendship as they work together. Nora's sister Willow has come home to help out while her parents are on a missions trip. She decides to take it upon herself to do a total make over of Nora. She helps Nora select more attractive clothing and even convinces her to get a new hair style. I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I really look forward to the rest of the series. The descriptions in this story are so clear, it is easy to see how Nora looked before Willow decided on a redo. The characters are so well introduced it is easy to follow along with them. As John struggles to deal with what he learns about his birth parents, he has to give the situation over to God and he has to learn that he is not to blame for what his father did. This is a story that has many emotions. Some funny, some very hard to deal with. I think anyone who likes to read contemporary fiction will enjoy this book. The book is labeled as contemporary romance, but the romance is not so overwhelming. The mystery and suspense around finding John's birth family kept my interest in the story. I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishing. I have chosen to write this honest review.
Wonderful Story May 26, 2017
First I have to say how much I love the cover. There is something so innocent about the woman but yet mysterious. It is definitely perfect for this story. I absolutely adore Nora. She has such a cool job as a historian, genealogist and village owner. That is one busy lady with a resume that would impress anyone. I have been doing some genealogy research and I have to say it is one of the most fascinating things I have ever done. Nora craves details and loves to dig deep to get answers. With the help of her sisters they have quite a village going . I was very impressed with the chocolate store. Can you imagine working there everyday?
John is a former Navy Seal and with the authors great description he must be easy on the eye. He is humble about what he accomplished as a Seal and I loved how the author portrayed him. It's not hard to fall in love with these characters as the author makes them so likeable. John is on a quest to find his birth mother and maybe with Nora's help he will succeed. I did enjoy the banter between them. Nora is quite funny trying to intimidate John but she is having no luck. I think she may be just a bit school girl crush over him. Will she let her guard down as they start to develop a relationship?
I loved the makeover Nora got thanks to her sister. I can remember having my makeup done once. I walked out of the store feeling on top of the world. Nora has confidence she never had before and I think it made her character very relatable to readers. The author really knows how to keeps readers attention with details of the three sisters background. Oh my goodness it is such good reading. I have to come back to John for a moment. The vivid details the author gives about Navy Seals and their missions are so tension filled I was grasping the arm of my chair.
To say that I loved this book is not enough. There are so many details and intricate scenes throughout the book that I couldn't possibly do justice to them. All I can say is well done Becky Wade. You have captured a story with poise, faith and compassion. I hope readers will run and grab a copy for themselves.
I received a copy of this book from LitFuse and Bethany House. The review is my own opinion.
What can I say? I loved it!! May 23, 2017
I’ve been a huge fan of Becky Wade’s books since reading “My Stubborn Heart” and have been anxiously anticipating this new series. I’ve yet to find a book of hers that I didn’t just fall in love with and this one is certainly no exception! From the opening line, which is quite possibly my new favorite, to the final page I was smiling and sighing and grabbing every spare moment to read even just a sentence or two. Though I was very sad to see her Porter series end, I have to say that this book is an excellent start to a new series and I loved getting to know the Bradford sisters!
Ms. Wade’s writing is excellent, as always! I love her way with words and particularly enjoyed the unique ones she found for Nora. I definitely enjoyed the mystery and search for answers and I loved the sister dynamic! These ladies had me laughing SO much! I’m positive I was getting a few odd looks, but I just couldn’t resist! I loved how they step in and out of each others lives, causing trouble, or lending sisterly support with a few wisecracks thrown in! While this is mostly Nora and John’s book, I felt I got to know Brit and Willow pretty well and am so excited for the next book! (I’m thinking it might be Willow’s!) And for those who are fans of Ms. Wade’s Porter series, there’s a name in this one that you might recognize!
I also have to gush over Nora Bradford. She’s a lady after my own heart - a librarian/genealogist, who lives in the “Book Cottage” and loves all things historical. She’s such a sweet lady, but with a stubborn streak to rival John’s, and a heart that’s been broken and is now hiding. I loved getting to know this strong/stubborn/lovely lady and gushing over “The Navy SEAL” with her!
And John Lawson is fine! Goodness! I definitely needed a fan for this one. Ms. Wade always has the best heroes! Hands-down, her books are on the top of the list for my very favorite romance and a lot of it is her guys and John is on the list for possibly being my favorite to date - the jury’s still out on that one. I may have to give her other books another read through before I could make a decision of such importance. But I definitely loved him! He’s almost the opposite of Nora, with her comfortable space, not overly adventurous nature, and British TV shows. Whereas he’s kayaking, and diving, and all the Navy SEAL stuff, and teaching emergency preparedness. But it totally worked. And my heart broke for him, for his journey and the hard things he faced. This is one of those books that pulled me in so thoroughly that I had to stop and remember that these are fictional people. I can’t text and ask how John is doing, or stop in at Brit’s and have an amazing chocolate, or call Willow for a make-over. But I wanted to! And their romance is so sweet, but also has plenty of spark (cue the fan). There were so many great lines that I had to save for gushing and sighing and general swooning.
Overall, I absolutely adored this book and I’m sure I’ll be reading it again very soon, whilst I anxiously await the next book!
My thanks to the author and publisher for my copy of this book! I was not required to write a review and have not been compensated for it in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.
Deep and Heartfelt May 18, 2017
Wow! This contemporary romance was packed with emotion! The author did a truly wonderful job of making me feel what these characters were experiencing. The uncertainty, the heartache, the nervousness…Whatever Nora or John felt…I felt! I love it when an author can capture that in their novel.
I really liked both main characters. They have quite a few differences that are noticeable from the start, yet it is clear to the reader that they are made for each other. But, of course, it is not that simple! There was definitely a lot for these two to work through and that made for a deeply satisfying and intense read full of truths that both Nora and John had to discover for themselves.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
True to You May 16, 2017
A perfect balance of lighthearted humor and meaningful emotion, True to You is a most enjoyable read! I loved the characterization of the Bradford sisters and their unique family dynamic. Nora Bradford is a librarian and historian, and I found her bookish persona quite endearing. John Lawson, former Navy SEAL, is a chivalrous hero, and I delighted in the pairing of these polar opposites. Theirs is a clever and charming romance that leaves me eager to continue this exciting new series!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. No review was required, and all thoughts expressed are my own.
Loving the Bradford Sisters May 14, 2017
This novel had so many levels to it. So much emotion and at least a couple of twists and turns. I loved the characters! If only I could really meet them! Nora and John, the two main characters, couldn't have been more different. Just as in real life, I guess in fiction too, opposites attract. For Nora the draw was almost immediate but for John, who already had a girlfriend, it took a little longer.
Nora's two sisters, Willow and Brit, were interesting. It's going to be fun to read more about them and their individual romances in the next two Bradford Sisters Romance novels. And hopefully catch up on Nora and John as well.
One of my favorite characters was Nikki, Nora's assistant. She was so much fun and didn't always think before she spoke. I'd love to have a girls night out with her!
The subject of adoption was a big aspect of the story. John wanted to find his birth mother to ask questions about his medical history and a devastating diagnosis he recently found out about. Nora as well as John had to learn that their identity, who they really are, comes from God and no other place. A very hard thing to come to grips with when you come face to face with your biological past.
The main thing I came away with was to acknowledge that no matter what our future holds, God is already there so we have nothing to fear.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher and was not required to write a review, I chose to do so.
4.5 stars actually May 11, 2017
4.5 stars actually.
There is a prequel to this series, The Bradford Series called Then Came You. However it is not necessary to read to understand anything going on in this novel. This is actually the first in the series and I look forward to reading them all.
I fell in love with all three sisters, Willow, Britt and of course Nora. Nora is a fun character to get to know. She is used to being in the background and is ok in that situation. She loves helping people. When the handsome Navy Seal needs her help is there more to discover than his ancestry?
Nora is not what John Lawson expected. He is a strong, handsome, caring well known Navy Seal. When secrets reveal things he may not understand, can he trust God to always know what is best?
I love the relationship Nora has with her sisters. They each have their own unique personalities and qualities, When John comes into the picture I instantly fell in love with him.
This book is full of love, friendships, some mystery, forgiveness and more. I can not wait for the next one to come out, I already know who I would like to see a lot more of in the next book. I loved all the characters in this one and look forward to learning more about each one.

True To You ( A Bradford Sisters Romance-Book #1 )
By: Becky Wade
True To You is book one in A Bradford Sisters Romance series. I really loved True To You and Becky Wade did a fantastic job on the story and the Characters , both were well developed. Wade had me hooked . I could not read fast enough to turn the pages faster to see what was going to happen next. I could not put it down , I was reading in the night to see how everything turned out. Wade did not disappointed. I caught myself laughing out loud or crying throughout the book. There are three Bradford sisters and this is Nora’s story. You will get to meet the other two sisters in true To You . I can’t wait to read their stories. Nora is a professional genealogy . She offers her services to John Lawson, a former Navy Seal. He needs her help to help him track down some lineage information . There is some chemistry between these two . Can Nora and John find the information he needs? This is a very sweet, heartwarming romance .
I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the author and Bethany House , but was not told that I had to give a positive review.
wonderful book with a great twist Apr 11, 2017
I love Becky Wade's books. I've read every one and truly cannot wait for book two in this series. I was quite thrilled with Nora's profession in this book. I find researching family history quite intriguing and have spent a fair amount of time pouring through old letters of my own Great Grandfather so watching her help John with his history. I also loved the work she was doing in her community as well.
I appreciated that both Nora and John had some flaws because at times they both almost seemed too good to be true. But I was glad to see them both have to learn about relationship, communication, and forgiveness throughout the book. Their struggles made their lives easier to relate to. I also enjoyed the family dynamics especially with Nora and her sisters in this book. I cannot wait to get to know the other sisters better in their books.
I really loved that Wade dropped a huge surprise in this book. The book was pretty carefree and then all of a sudden there was a flip turn upside down moment. It changed everything and made me almost cry. I love it when an author pulls that off!
I highly recommend reading the prequel novella, Then Came You, so that you have a better understanding of this book. It isn't necessary but will make you appreciate many parts of this book even more.
The publisher through NetGalley provided me an advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own
