Item description for Child's Guide to the Mass (Childs Guide) by Sue Stanton & H. M. Alan... This bright and cheerful interactive explanation of the Mass will keep children occupied Sunday after Sunday. Little Sarah invites readers to join her and her family for a special Children's Mass. She explains everything in child-friendly terms, both the key parts of the Mass and the different roles of the laity. Many prayers and responses are given in full. Along the way Sarah asks questions that prompt the reader to point out people, actions, and items and that also gently encourage appropriate behaviors and thoughts. Searching the appealing art for the answers yields surprises as the typical congregation whispers, drops bulletins, and hunts for runaway babies. Above all, this book's message is that Mass is a loving place that has room for everyone. Child's Guide to the Mass holds up to multiple readings week after week after week. The playful full-color illustrations show a diverse congregation that embraces the young and the old, the well and the disabled, plus a wide range of ethnic groups. The book's unique interactive features will entertain young readers as well as gently teach them and encourage them into a joyful attentive presence at Mass. Written for kids aged five to eight, this title is recommended for parents, grandparents, home schoolers, and caretakers; Sunday school teachers, CCD teachers, and parochial school teachers; children's liturgy committees; parish offices; directors of religious education; Catholic daycare centers and Catholic hospitals; and gift givers everywhere.

Reviews - What do customers think about Child's Guide to the Mass?
 | Good for multiple ages May 28, 2008 |
| I bought this book 1-2 years ago for my godson, who is almost 6. It took him a while, but he loves it. I am now buying a second book b/c his sister, who is 3, also loves it, and they argue over the book during mass. :) They both like it a lot. I like it b/c it shows people of all different ages, races, and abilities attending mass. | | | | Good for 1st graders Apr 23, 2008 |
| I used this book in addition to the textbook for my first grade PSR (CCD) class this year and then sent it on to my kindergarten aged granddaughter. This is a well written book for children with delightful illustrations. It doesn't go into the why but that is something that can be added by parents or teachers. I found the book most helpful and recommend it for both home and PSR use. | | | | Just right for young children Feb 7, 2007 |
| I liked this book because the pictures and writing reflect the experiences today's children will have at Mass. All the different parts of Mass are covered and explained clearly and simply. The illustrations are attractive and comparable to well-produced picturebooks, unlike some earlier unprofessional Catholic publications. | | | | Modernist tale of the New Mass Jun 12, 2006 |
| Don't waste your money on this ultra-modern look at the Mass from 1970 onward. The felt banners on the cover should give you a clue as to what the author thinks is an devout and reverant liturgy. | | | | mysticalspring.com Nov 16, 2003 |
