Item description for Going Rogue: An American Life by Sarah Palin...

One year ago, Sarah Palin burst onto the national political stage like a comet. Yet even now, few Americans know who this remarkable woman really is.

On September 3, 2008 Alaska Governor and vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin delivered a speech at the Republican National Convention that electrified the nation and instantly made her one of the most recognizable women in the world.

As chief executive of America's largest state, she had built a record as a reformer who cast aside politics-as-usual and pushed through changes other politicians only talked about: Energy independence. Ethics reform. And the biggest private sector infrastructure project in U.S. history. And while revitalizing public school funding and ensuring the state met its responsibilities to seniors and Alaska Native populations, Palin also beat the political "good ol' boys club" at their own game and brought Big Oil to heel.

Like her GOP running mate, John McCain, Palin wasn't a packaged and over-produced candidate. She was a Main Street American woman: a working mom, wife of a blue collar union man, and mother of five children, the eldest of whom was serving his country in a yearlong deployment in Iraq and the youngest, an infant with special needs. Palin's hometown story touched a populist nerve, rallying hundreds of thousands of ordinary Americans to the GOP ticket.

But as the campaign unfolded, Palin became a lightning rod for both praise and criticism. Supporters called her "refreshing" and "honest," a kitchen-table public servant they felt would fight for their interests. Opponents derided her as a wide-eyed Pollyanna unprepared for national leadership. But none of them knew the real Sarah Palin.

In this eagerly anticipated memoir, Palin paints an intimate portrait of growing up in the wilds of Alaska; meeting her lifelong love; her decision to enter politics; the importance of faith and family; and the unique joys and trials of life as a high-profile working mother. She also opens up for the first time about the 2008 presidential race, providing a rare, mom's-eye view of high-stakes national politics---from patriots dedicated to "Country First" to slick politicos bent on winning at any cost.

Going Rogue traces one ordinary citizen's extraordinary journey and imparts Palin's vision of a way forward for America and her unfailing hope in the greatest nation on earth.

Reviews - What do customers think about Going Rogue: An American Life ?

Palin has our future in mind!  Jan 1, 2011
This story is about a woman who decided that politics-as-usual were not in the best interest of the people, and set out to change that. Maintaining and expressing her Biblical views, she served on the Wasilla City Council, then successfully ran for governor of Alaska. During this time, she radically changed the way Alaskan government worked, and ushered in renewable energy in the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act (AGIA). Then, after being asked to join Senator McCain as a VP candidate, she battled through the media’s false reports and opinions. After losing the election, she and her family were heavily assaulted by the media with false stories, no matter how ridiculous.

Throughout all the offices she held, she always let her beliefs shine through in the decisions she made and people she appointed. Though she did not associate solely with any one party, she did so with those whom she thought held Alaska’s, and America’s, best interest.

Excellent Christian Book - Highly Recommended  Dec 21, 2009
This book is awesome. It helps you gain valuable insight into the character and the charisma of Sarah. She has turned out to be one of the most interesting people of the decade and i think that she has really shaken american politics in a way that no other woman has ever done. Whether you are democrat or replublican, you really should read this book as i think it advances womens issues into a post modern era - an era beyond just political correctness and the hum drum of 1960's dogma - into a new millenium - a modern one. One where women can make up there own minds and dont have to think in a "dumbed down - democratic party official lines" way.

On the other front, where the heck is the womens rights movements when it comes to defending sarah as a political candidate. Frankly, im discusted that one of the most influential voices in womens rights - www.now.org - has not come out in support of Sarah. I think that Sarah shows that these dogma dificient 60's relics are now no longer relevant.

Learn the entire story  Dec 19, 2009
This is a great easy reading and very interesting book which gives a complete picture of what was going on during the Presidental Campaign of 2008. Our news media has become so editorialized that we hear their take on world events. What is taped and shown to the public is a decision made by the managers To be an informed consumer we need to hear both sides of the events happening in the world. This book will tell you the side from Sarah's perspective. The choice is yours to believe what you decide.

A MUST READ!  Dec 19, 2009
I loved this and really appreciated the fact that Sarah read the audiobook herself. Anne

An Inspiration to Every Freedom Loving, Capitalist Patriot!  Dec 19, 2009
The truth is often times hard to swallow, especially by one's foes. "Methinks the [appropriate noun] doth protest too much." Truer words were never spoken.

This is a guide for decent, law abiding, intelligent, honest people and is an inspiration for anyone liking to stand on their own two feet and do God's work. I salute you, Mrs. Palin.
