 | An Enjoyable Presentation Jun 26, 2006 |
This Bible was a great buy. Although it is impractical for a Bible Study, or for reference during Church it is a wonderful presentation for casual reading and reading while on commute.
Its magazine presentation allows me and those who are watching me to appreciate the simplicity and accessibility of the gospel. It reminds me that the Word of God isn't meant to be held behind ornate granite walls and stain glassed windows, but to be spoken on the street and shared with the masses. I hope that this presentation will be used by more Christians and new seekers to dispel the myth of a stuffy church, and a repressive Christ. -HisAmbassador.com | | | | Disgusting! Jan 7, 2006 |
You have got to be kidding me! This Bible publisher has sunk to a new low. Do we really need a Bible (and I really don't want to call it a Bible) that looks like a cheap rip off of those nasty magazines at the grocery counter? I can hardly take my kids through the check out line without making them look away, or turning the magazines around so they can't see them. Now we want to use the same gimmick to try and sell the Bible? And why did they have to put the word SEX on the cover in bold letters? Oh wait, I forgot. Sex sells...apparently it sells Bibles too. Do you think Jesus would buy this Biblezine? Give me a break. He said to "come out from among them, and be ye separate". Not "use the world's gimmicks to try and sneak My Word into popular culture". The Bible should influence culture, culture should not influence the Bible.
Unfortunately, this Biblezine will probably sell well. (BTW, this publisher also publishes the teen Biblezine's Revolve, and Refuel). There are many Christians out there today that do not live a separated life, who don't stand for anything, and who haven't the slightest idea what the Bible says anyway. They will buy this Bible, and like everything else faddish, they will use it for a time, and then it will go by the wayside. Then they will wait for something new to reenergize their spiritual life.
One other thing: We have too many English translations of the Bible. It is no wonder people are confused. By my last count, we have over 50 English translations. How does this help anyone? All this does is breed confusion, and God is not the author of confusion. If God is not the author of confusion, then who is? Think about it. My guess is that the only reason we have so many translations is to make money, and this Biblezine is just one more way to make some cash. Why do Bibles cost money anyway? Didn't God give us His Word for free? I think that we will have to answer for that. He gave us a free gift, and we turn right around and slap a worldy, irreverent cover on it and sell it. Maybe the reason that we are not reaching the world with the Gospel, is because we are too busy making money off of it.
Let me help you with something. Get you a good KJV, read it, and get rid of these other gimmicks, and you will see your spiritual life grow. | | | | Align your heart, mind and soul. Jan 5, 2006 |
I received this bible as a Christmas present and have just gotten around to reading it. So far I am pleased with the presentation and interpretation of the gospel.
I think all of the tips that are placed throughout this biblezine are great. Is it really any different then when your pastor tells you how to apply the gospel to your world today?? People seem to be freaking out about putting Sexcess on the front of this bible for some reason. I would argue that one of the biggest problems men face today is the pervasiveness of sex in todays society. And this biblezine has numerous points based all throughout it ranging from The Art of Romance to the The Pornography Paradox. These are real issues and I see no reason why not to include them in a biblezine. In particular, when they quote scripture to back up a point they are making.
Personally, I think it is a great idea and a great way to present the bible.
Now I'm off to go and see if they make one for the Old Testament. | | | | Excellent gift for men Nov 29, 2005 |
| I gave this to my husband and he loves it! He's 28 and deals with many questions about how to live out his Christian faith. I'm giving one to my brother and male cousins for Christmas!! I'd also recommend the Becoming BibleZine for women, which I read regularly. | | | | Great Tool For Men That Deals With REAL Issues! Nov 3, 2005 |
