Item description for Laylie's Daring Quest (Life of Faith®, A: Laylie Colbert Series) by Kersten Hamilton... Bestselling historical fiction book now available in paperback
Andros pointed at the squiggles on the page. "These marks are words. As I read them, they make pictures in my head." "What picture?" asked Laylie. "A picture of a young man named Galahad," Andros said. "He is the bravest and best young man alive, full of courage and valor. Galahad is on a quest." "What's a quest? Is it a horse?" Laylie asked. "A quest is a journey, through terrible danger, to find something you must have. Perhaps something that has been lost."
Laylie Colbert's fate as a plantation slave in the Old South of the mid-1830s seems inevitable...that is, until a new possibility ignites hope in her heart. Laylie begins a quest that requires her to keep dangerous secrets, take life-threatening risks, and endure difficult and unjust circumstances. As Laylie and her brother set their plan in motion, they face impossible odds. But can God tip the odds in their favor? Will their dream come true before time runs out? Laylie, an energetic and intelligent seven-year-old girl born into slavery, must keep a secret---she and her older brother Luke are planning an escape. When their plan takes them south to Roseland's Plantation, Laylie meets fifteen-year-old Millie Keith, a strong abolitionist who helps Laylie understand a freedom more precious than any other. With this new discovery, Laylie's life of faith begins as she and Luke make their way north, against impossible odds, to New York City and to true freedom.

Reviews - What do customers think about Laylie's Daring Quest (Life of Faith®, A: Laylie Colbert Series)?
 | From bondage to freedom-Super good book!! May 10, 2006 |
| Laylie's Daring Quest is a wonderful book! From its suspense and daring risks to the warm feeling of frienship between Millie Keith and Laylie! One of the best parts was when Laylie found Jesus.Very good book-will encourage and confirm your faith! If the scale was from 1-10 I would rate it 10!I highly reccomend this book. Of the A Life of Faith books, this one is about the best. | | | | Captivating Apr 22, 2006 |
| I loved this book. It is fresh, original, by turns heartbreaking, and then funny. In comparison with the Elsie books from "A Life Of Faith", I like this Laylie loads better. The story is free from superfulous details about money, clothes ,and jewlery. Its all about HER . . . as a unique, and highly animated individual. And it is a spiritual journey from darkness to the light of Jesus. The parts where Millie (Mildred Kieth) read her Bible to Laylie while she was brushing her hair especially touched me; and when Millie cut up her favorite dress to make an outfit for Laylie, I cried. These charactors are tangible. I feel as though I have, in actuality, met them. What I expected when I purchased this book was a run of the mill run away slave book. What I discovered was a story that gripped my heart, and would not let it go. | | | | Excellent Book! Mar 28, 2006 |
| I've read all the Elsie Dinsmore and Millie Keith books, as well as part of the Violet series. They are all very good. However, my favorite book so far in the entire "A Life of Faith" series is Laylie's Daring Quest. I really like the way the story is written and all the adventure in it! | | | | An Excellent Book Aug 8, 2005 |
| "Laylie's Daring Quest" is a delightful and engaging book. It has excellent story, loveable characters, and will challenge readers to persevere in their own "quest". The characters in "Laylie" are dynamic; their growing courage and faith in very difficult times will inspire growth in faith and courage in all readers. I highly recommend this book. | | | | From Slavery to Freedom a Journey in Faith Jun 17, 2005 |
| This book accurately follows the journey of a young slave girl from the field to the manor, from the manor to freedom in the North, at the same time it follows her journey from bondage to sin, to freedom in Christ. A powerful and well written historically accurate book for lovers of freedom. I highly recommend it. | | | Write your own review about Laylie's Daring Quest (Life of Faith®, A: Laylie Colbert Series)
