I like Joel Osteen and his ministry at Lakewood Church. As a matter of fact he seems like a swell guy, which is one of the reasons I tune in every week. I find what he preaches to be inspirational, however, I'm deeply disappointed in his latest effort "It's Your Time."
I'm perplexed as to why he published, or should I say re-hashed his previous material? Each chapter was nothing more than transcripts from his latest sermons within the past 6 months. {{{EVERY WORD VERBATIM!!!!!}}} And I should know I have them saved on my DVR.
So, if you've been faithfully watching Joel's program as of late you've read the book already.
Now, you may be asking why I gave Osteen 3 stars?...And the answer is I believe this book is targeted for newcomers who want to receive Joel's message for the first time. And they'll probably find what he discusses to be rather pragmatic and most helpful.
Anyhow, I strongly feel that Osteen's prior book "Become A Better You" is his superior work, which should be read by everyone, and I highly recommend it. Nonetheless, take a pass on "It's Your Time" and instead donate the money you would have spent on the book to his ministry.

It's a great way to refresh your faith and to remind yourself that God is looking out for you. My motto to my family is "read yours & pass yours on to someone you feels needs it". | This is the first book purchased by joel osteen...it's your time. The first few chapters are very slow reading. After getting through those chapters it is better reading...hard to put down. Very interesting...well written. | | | Write your own review about Its Your Time
