Reviews - What do customers think about A Love So True (Teaville Moral Society #2)?

*He has a plan and a purpose for us All*  Jun 4, 2017
Melissa Jagears continues the enriched drama of the Teaville Moral Society. This time the focus is on the overly tall, and extremely persnickety Evelyn Wisely who has a heart for the orphaned children of the red-light district of a small town in 1908 Kansas. While many people believe the problems those children face are direct results of the lifestyle their mothers have “chosen”, Evelyn believes every child deserves love and care. She will go to great lengths to do her part toward that end. Additionally, she holds a long-kept secret buried in her heart that causes her to keep her distance from men who might indicate the slightest interest in her.
David Kingsman is the son of a wealthy, big city businessman who has been tasked with coming to Teaville to quickly sell a canning jar production company his father recently acquired, and then get back home to business and his father’s ideas for his future. However, God seems to have other plans for David, as he continually finds his path redirected toward helping Evelyn. He is a pleasant sort, with a strong character that pushes him to do the right thing.
I especially enjoyed old Mr. Hargrove who is over 80 years old. His kindness was charming, and the fact he was made to feel useful again was just precious. So many old people get ignored, and these moments in the story were endearing.
Once again, this story was filled with detail and faith. I enjoyed it very much.

A Love So True by Melissa Jagears  Jun 2, 2017
A Love So True #2 Teaville Moral Society by Melissa Jagears It is now 1908 and we return to the quaint little town of Teaville, Kansas where Evelyn Wisely works diligently caring for the orphans at the local orphanage. However, her heart simply cannot ignore the women of Teaville who are in need. I admire her courage—and boldness—in following her convictions, however, I am not sure I would have been as bold, especially in the parts of town she went to....frequently alone and potentially dangerous. But her faith would not allow her to do otherwise—the plight of these women tugged at her heart. Then she meets David Kingsman, who only plans to be in Teaville a short time and before returning to Kansas City. David is quickly intrigued by Evelyn, but she often puzzles him. I have to admit, Evelyn was a puzzle to me in certain areas...she has a secret which may explain why she comes across so stand-offish and unhappy, except when she is with the orphans. Once this secret is revealed will David see her differently and loose all respect he has for her? Will her family forgive her, will God? Can she forgive herself? I really like David and hoped he would be able to help Evelyn in what she was trying to accomplish...not saying. However, if David's father has anything to say about it, that will never happen. He is one character that I had a hard time liking, even a little—there are reasons he is the way he is...again not saying. Besides Evelyn and David being favorite characters, the elderly Mr. Hargrove is another. He is a sweet man who allowed them the use of his home in a health crisis and they became fast friends. Some of the other characters had me in tears for the way they lived and how hopeless they felt. A Love So True is a heartwarming romance in a historical setting—a quaint little town with true-to-life characters that soon become like friends. They experience hardships, heartaches, joys, dangers, fear and second-chances much like we do. I appreciate the overall inspirational theme of forgiveness, reconciliation, love and faith within the story-line. ~I received a copy of this book from the publisher and author (no monetary gain were exchanged), this is my honest review~

Finding Forgiveness and Romance in Teaville  May 25, 2017
No one works more tirelessly for the orphans of Teaville, KS, than Evelyn Wisely. Her job at the orphanage puts her in contact with children few in their town will accept – the children of prostitutes. As she tends to their needs, she sees the trap that many of the women find themselves ensnared within. What if their town could build a women’s shelter to house any of the women who want to leave prostitution? What if they would teach the women another trade? Could they help both the children and their mothers with just one idea?
David Kingsman is sent to Teaville by his father to sell the glass factory his father has acquired. David, however, has a different vision. If he can make it more profitable before he sells it, the factory will be worth way more than his father expects to get out of it. Unfortunately, when he arrives he discovers that the man running the place is basically drawing a salary for doing the least amount of work he can manage. As David works to “clean house”, his long hours don’t leave him any time to pursue his first love – cooking. Worse yet, he can’t find a restaurant that cooks better food than he could make himself and the food provided by the boarding house he stays in is just plain awful. Searching for a restaurant in this new-to-him town, he follows the very respectable –looking Evelyn into the Hawk and Eagle “soda fountain”. At least, that’s what he thinks it has to be because no lady of substance would ever enter a saloon, right?
Intrigued by this woman who walks into not only a bar but the red light district alone and without fear, David makes it a point to get to know her. The cold shoulder he gets would - and has - made many men turn their attentions elsewhere. David, however, is only looking for friendship. He doesn’t plan to stay in Teaville and he’s not looking for romance. Since Evelyn has her own reasons for keeping all men at a distance, David’s temporary status in Teaville makes him a safe option for friendship. What happens, then, when feelings change and secrets come to light?
Welcome back to Teaville – where the Teaville Moral Society is THE Ladies club to belong to. Book 2 in Melissa Jagears’ Teaville Moral Society series brings readers a kinder, less judgmental ladies group than was in Book 1, A Heart Most Certain. While most of the ladies are on board with helping the orphans, few of them are willing to risk their reputations to help the town’s prostitutes – many of whom were forced into the life as mere children. It seemed to be almost a given that little girls whose mothers were prostitutes would inevitably gain the attention of some man bent on taking their innocence. Knowing that this heinous activity continues in present day breaks my heart. The book makes the point that, even though Evelyn can’t save everyone, she does what she can and saves some.
While, yes, this has elements of romance in it, the bulk of the story has more to do with forgiving oneself for youthful mistakes. Evelyn also chooses to focus her life on making the lives of others better, instead of on the train wreck hers seems to have become. I admired her a great deal for that. I recommend this book for readers who enjoy historical fiction, romance fiction or just anyone who loves a good story. This one will make you laugh, cheer, and cry – sometimes all three within just a few pages! I can hardly wait for the NEXT installment!

Melissa Jagears did it again! It's another great book.   May 17, 2017
A Love so True Melissa Jagears

Well Melissa did it again with this great book. She takes us to Teaville, Kansas the location of the first book and brings in some of the characters from "A Heart Most Certain".
A book that will hold your interest and things that happens in David and Evelyn's life will touch your heart. Evelyn is hiding a secret though, that keeps David from getting too close to her. Read this book and find out her secret, it might surprise you!
She doesn't realize David is what she needs to help her to break that wall around her heart.
He begins helping her with her hearts desire and I loved him for this alone, even if he wasn't trying to win her over. She wants to help the women and children in the "red light district" so much.
Oh my, the town's residents seemingly wants to help with maybe making things for the less fortunate but they don't approve of Evelyn's ideas and getting too close and getting "their" hands dirty.
A good message right there.
You do not have to read the first book to understand and enjoy this book but if you want to know the story of Nicholas and Lydia read the first book. I love Historical Fiction!
I received this book from the publisher/ author and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

A Love So True  May 8, 2017
A Love So True is the second novel from Melissa Jagears's series, Teaville Moral Society. Evelyn Wisely loves working at the orphanage but wants to help others, as well. Her employer agrees to help her build a shelter for the women of Teaville if she gets the approval from others in town. She finds an ally in David Kingsman, a local businessman. They develop a partnership that could be more than they bargained for.

I enjoyed A Love So True. I admired Evelyn's determination to help those who had fallen on hard times and had hope to give them a new life they never have imagined without her help. Evelyn is such a strong woman of her time. I love the character of David and loved how he grew throughout. This story had some really serious scenes that were hard to read, as well as some tender, sweet moments. I love how it all came together in the end.

4 1/2 stars.

I received this book from the author, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
