Reviews - What do customers think about The Amish Wanderer?

Searching for Love  Feb 24, 2017
The Amish Wanderer is a grittier and edgier Amish novel dealing with abuse- physical, emotional, and spiritual. Bethany and Silas have both experienced abuse from those who should have loved and protected them. Silas is on the run from his past and Bethany wants to be on the run to her future. This story takes place over a shorter period of time and we get both of their perspectives. There are some twists and turns this story takes, but more than anything we really get inside their heads and see what is really going on behind their actions. The feelings of unworthiness, the sense that their spirits seem broken, and both barely holding on to the thread of hope that God does really love them come alive in this very transparent read. So this story was much more of an emotional one as we watch these two grasp the love of God.
I like how the author shows the love of the Father God in her story and answers questions that we all have had or will have at some time in our lives. Like the big one; why does God allow bad things to happen? I enjoy this author’s work as she gets down to the nitty gritty of human behavior without the sugar coating or glossing over of the harder things of life.
I received a copy of this book for free. I was not required to give a positive review and the views and opinions expressed are my own.

An Awesome Story  Feb 22, 2017
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
Finding a wanderer in your barn loft? That's just what Bethany Wiess did! And the man turns out to be Silas Beiler, who lived in their Amish community a years ago. All Silas wanted was somewhere to sleep for the night and a good home cooked meal before he headed on to Pennsylvania. Which gives Bethany an idea, since she has been looking for a way to leave home. If she keeps Silas here long enough, she can convince him to take her with him, so she offers him a job. And thankfully her mamm hires him. But Bethany gets anything but what she has her mind set on doing.
February is a wonderful time of year to launch a new Amish romance, and Amish Wanderer is just that. Laura Hilton takes two hurting characters and weaves together a beautiful story of love, forgiveness, second chances, and contentment. Some parts of this story is emotional and harsh, but it is real life issues that happen, and I appreciate the way Ms. Laura shows the love of God and how He can change a life. And as always, I love the way Laura Hilton can create such a twisted situation and turn it around to be a beautiful ending, just as she does in this story. If you love Amish, if you love Romance, and if you love a good clean story to read, I highly recommend Amish Wanderer for you to read.
I received this book from Celebration Lit Blog Tours to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.

able to be hearers of the heart  Feb 16, 2017
What makes a wanderer? Could it include one who travels without leaving home? Bethany Weiss is seeking relief from a lack of protection. To be honored, loved, and respected by the very ones she should be able to trust is a deep desire unfounded. Silas Beiler has returned to town. Bethany was able to join her faith and trust in Silas when they were younger. Could it be he has come to rescue her?

Jamesport, Missouri, is a visitor haven for the Englischers seeking to purchase home goods the Amish have made. Jams, jellies, homemade pies, quilts of many patterns, fine woodworking; warmth within and without. But this story is not about the Englischers, it is about those within its borders. Extremely well-written!

My favorite secondary characters are Preacher Samuel, his frau, Elsie, and their nephew Josh and his frau, Greta. They see with eyes of vision and not reproach, of what can be, not hampered by what has been. By being listeners they are able to be hearers of the heart. They have drawn more to der Herr with their love than any words of question could. We all seek a heart that hears us. A word that is spoken in due season also takes a heart that is ready and will listen.

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. --Romans 8:38-39

Fear runs from the unknown. Silas finds that his fear binds him until truth sets him free. It is necessary for him to face his fear. The darkness holds no bond to the light of Christ's Word to never leave us. This story brings hope and a release from struggles when guided correctly from love and not control.

Amish Wanderer bears reading more than once. Much wisdom and care bring truth to the light. Lives saved that could have remained in bondage to lies and deceit are released. Generations will be able to go forward in the freedom they have been given. Overcomers!

Safety for shattered lives  Feb 14, 2017
The Amish Wanderer by Laura Hilton is definitely not your typical Amish romance book. Hilton writes with rich, expressively pointed prose to tell a story of two young people who each feel running away is the only option to deal with the issues in their lives. As Hilton deals with difficult subject matter, she does it with finesse and discretion. Bethany is just trying to be the Bishop's good daughter, yet is afraid of the consequences of obedience. If she wants to survive, she feels the only way out is to flee the circumstances. Silas is on the move, having left his destructive family background to search for a safe harbor to begin life anew. Bethany desperately just wants Silas to take her with him as he moves on. They are two flawed and wounded people but will running away solve things? Can this truly be the only way to right the wrongs of the past? The author expertly weaves romance with mystery, action-packed scenes to show the kinship and curative influence of a small community and the importance of forgiveness and faith in difficult situations--the knowing that God sometimes works in the shadows.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through Celebrate Lit. A favorable review was not required and opinions are my own.

Outstanding  Feb 2, 2017
Laura Hilton wrote the most outstanding book I've ever read by her in "The Amish Wanderer". The two main characters are excellent and this book kept my interest and drawing me further into the story. You will be missing so much if you miss reading this book. I'm usually not a person to read a book twice, but I could read this book twice.

I received a complimentary copy from the author. This review is one hundred percent my opinion.
