Reviews - What do customers think about Road To Mercy?

Will faith be enough  Apr 4, 2014
Josh and Bethany Harrison are a couple who faces many life changing events in their life. From the thrill of finding out that she is pregnant with their first child to the life threatening condition which could take her, the baby's or both lives, this book shows all of the pain and emotions involved in the decisions made. Enter into the mix, Dr. Ben Abrams who chose to live his life by science and not by faith. In this mix is also Isaac. An orphan from a long ago plane crash. How do all of these people fit together? How will they relate in the end? With both Josh and Beth keeping secrets, will their faith be enough?

Great book that explores the many emotions of mankind

I received this book from bookfun.org in exchange for my honest review.

This book will help build your Faith  Mar 26, 2014
This is my first book by Kathy Harris I really enjoyed it. It kept me wanting to read and not put it down. Great Characters. Josh and his wife Bethany are faced with some major decisions they need to make. Can they make these decisions based on being Christians?
Not knowing if Bethany will make it through the decision they make. The decision they make is based on faith. Only god's mercy and their faith can get them through this trial in their life. I love Christian fiction Kathy did a wonderful job with this story. Looking forward to her next book.

Excellent Contemporary Fiction  Mar 22, 2014
The Road to Mercy is an excellent book. Josh Harrison, a Christian singer, is on the road most of the time. Bethany, his wife, has a life threatening health issue along with being pregnant. Even though an abortion was recommended, Bethany decides she wants to maintain the pregnancy. She also has a secret she is keeping from her husband. Trust and mercy is stressed throughout the book. Kathy Harris has done an excellent job with this being her first book. I will continue to follow anything she writes.
I received this book from The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.

Great book!  Feb 18, 2014
I have been wanting to read The Road to Mercy for a while, so I was excited when BookClubNetwork offered it for my honest review. What a great book! Ms. Harris wrote about tough subjects so effortlessly, transporting us back and forth between a 50-year span without missing a beat. I loved the suspense and mystery that she added to the storyline for more intrigue and to keep the reader involved, but I also loved the complexity of the characters’ emotions as they were dealing with their own hurts from the past.

Road to Mercy will appeal to so many and I’ve already begun recommending it. I look forward to reading more books by Ms. Harris and am so glad I had the opportunity to read this one.

I enjoyed this book very much. The characters are very true to life and you come away from this book feeling like you know these people. This book handled the difficult subject of abortion with tact and grace, showing God’s love throughout. The faith of the characters in the book are very inspiring to me. If you enjoy Christian fiction, you will love this book.

I received this book for review purposes from The Book Club Network, Inc. for my honest opinion.

A great Christian novel  Feb 9, 2014
This book was great. It captivated me from the beginning and I read it in two days. A story of love, forgiveness, secrets, healing, redemption, God's Love, Grace and Mercy. Life challenges that test Josh and Bethany's Faith, hard choices and decisions.
There are a number of well written characters.
In 1959 there is a plane crash that leaves a baby boy named Isaac an orphan. Read to see how Isaac's story leads him into Josh and Bethany's life.
Josh Harrison one of the main characters is a contemporary christian singer. He and his wife Bethany, another main character, have a tough decision to make regarding Bethany's health issues and pregnancy. Bethany has a secret from her younger years that she has not told Josh about. Josh also is having financial difficulties and fears one of his band members may be involved.
Read to see how the story of Isaac, Dr Abrams, the revealing of Bethany's secret and how Josh and Bethany get through this trying and difficult time in their lives.
Kathy Harris is a talented writer. I recommend this book.

I received this book from bookfun.org for my honest opinion and review.

This One Will Change You!  Feb 7, 2014
The Road To Mercy was a delightful read. Harris grabbed my attention in the first few paragraphs of the prologue and it was hard to put the book down until I had turned the last page. This book has just about everything: a tender love story, struggles with faith, enduring friendships, science versus trust in God, affirmation of the gift of life, and even a little suspense!
I immediately connected with the characters on a number of levels and Harris's rich characterization made it easy to do so. Harris allows the reader to hear from the primary characters' points of view. The trials and struggles in faith that Josh, Bethany and Dr. Abrams go through portray beautifully the truth of Philippians 2:12 "Therefore my beloved as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling."
Harris adds depth to her story by weaving a little suspense. She peppers just enough detail from the past throughout the book to keep you turning the pages. That along with the emotional tension in Bethany's and Josh's relationship make for a book you do not want to miss!
I think my favorite character may have been Josh and Bethany's neighbor, Alex. She is a beautiful character who portrays what a true friend looks like self-sacrificing and faithful through the good and the very bad.
Reading this book will help you to see your own journey in a different light.
I was able to get a complimentary copy of the book sent to me for the purpose of providing a review.

A Story of love, trust and faith  Feb 4, 2014
I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Road to Mercy by Kathy Harris. The story, with many problems faced by the main characters, is well written. Josh is a Christian singer who travels much of the time, leaving his wife Bethany alone. Once, while traveling, Josh finds out that Bethany has had a rupture in her carotid artery, which is very serious. But then, she finds out that she is also pregnant. Her doctor wants her to terminate the pregnancy, but Josh and Bethany trust God and decide to keep the baby, putting Bethany's life at greater risk. The next 8 months are like a roller coaster ride, with one problem after another putting their marriage in jeopardy.
This story is real. The characters are real. The problems faced in the story are real. I would recommend this book to everyone. It is a story about trust, love and faith.
I received this book free from the author and The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion. This review is posted at Goodreads, Deeper Shopping, this site, and Christian Books.

Inspirational Fiction  Feb 1, 2014
Aspiring contemporary Christian singer, Josh Harrison, has a career on the rise and a happy life with his beautiful wife, Beth. Very soon into the story they must face a life-threatening health issue, complicated by a pregnancy that presents a difficult decision. Their faith is shaken and they struggle with their faith journey. Moreover a secret that Beth has kept from Josh threatens their marriage. Josh's music in concerts has witnessed to thousands of people, but Beth and Josh's lives impact a certain doctor who had chosen to live a life based on science, not religion and admits that he's an agnostic Jew. In addition Beth discovers a God "coincidence" linking their two families many years before. The Road to Mercy is a story written with compassion and truth. God's grace and mercy are open to everyone who asks. The minor stories woven within Beth and Josh's story are just as intriguing and touching as theirs. Kathy Harris's novel will lift your spirits and reaffirm your faith in God's endless love. I received this book through The Book Club Network in exchange for an honest review.

Tragedy, love & secrets meet faith  Jan 31, 2014
Josh Harrison is a rising Christian singer, he’s on top of the world. His wife Bethany suffers a spontaneous dissection of the carotid artery, that rocks their world. Soon after they discover she is pregnant. Her doctor Ben Abrams encourages them to terminate her pregnancy for her own healthy. With the weight of the world on their shoulder they face some life changing decisions. This was a good book that touched some hard subjects, like abortion, forgiveness, trust in Christ, His mercy and faith. The back cover says it better than anyone could, “Tragedy, Love & Secrets meet on a journey of faith.”

This was my first book by Kathy Harris I have read. I found it to be well written, well researched and the characters flowed flawlessly. I give this book 4 stars and must warn you it will pull at your heart strings. I recommend The Road to Mercy to all lovers of Christian Fiction lovers.

I want to thank the author Kathy Harris and publisher Abingdon Press for bringing good clean Christian books like this one to readers like me. I would also like to thank The Book Club Network Inc. for providing me with this book in exchange for my honest review. I am grateful for their generosity.

Imperfect people making a brave choice...  Jan 30, 2014
The Road to Mercy is a story about Life. Living it, Loving it, Misunderstanding it, Enduring it, Bearing it, Healing from its more broken days.

A pregnant woman has been given a disturbing prognosis: Abort this unexpected baby or risk her own newly-fragile health.
She chooses Life, for the baby and for herself, and she's willing to make the sacrifices needed to give them both the best chance possible.
Her husband agrees with his brave wife, and together Josh and Bethany prepare for eight months of challenges.
Bethany will be heavily medicated, on high does of drugs that could be habit forming and may affect the child.
Her style will certainly be cramped, as anything that stresses her could harm her barely stable condition.
Mostly, she needs Josh to understand why she seems to be a different person. Between the mood-swings and the meds, she feels like a stranger to herself!
But Josh seems to be barely coping. He's a rising star in the CCM world, touring and singing his heart out, and he's hardly ever home in Nashville.
The last thing he's doing is supporting Bethany.
Frankly, as I read, I was grinding my teeth almost every time Josh appeared in the story. And that's a good thing. Here's why: Because it was real.
Josh and Bethany were not perfect super-people. He, especially, was not. He worried about providing because he wanted to give her the best, and when he was caught up in the worry he got mad over things that weren't worth it. He made his wife cry. And he was concerned that the heavy medication was going to leave her addicted, which left her feeling pressured. He wanted to be a great husband and planned to be a great father, but he was human and he fell short. He sometimes focused more on himself and his image and career than he did on ministering to her.
Yet... he was growing. He was moving toward a destination, on a journey of faith. Like his wife, he was on The Road to Mercy.

Meanwhile, for Bethany, I rejoiced every time her angels came on the scene. Bethany's main angel was her friend Alex. I called her St. Alex throughout the story, because she was so patient and kind and forbearing. She was with Bethany through all the ups and downs. Alex defines "Friendship."

And I saw two things in this story. When a woman decides to be brave and to sacrifice herself and take the difficult road of Pro-life, she needs all the support she can get. Whether she's married or not, she needs people to step in and be her Alex.
No matter who we are, we are made in the image of God. And no matter what we believe, every human is inherently responsible to honor every other man and woman of any age or stage because they are also images of God.
We know that life is precious and beyond our understanding, and we know that human life is especially sacred.
As Christians, we who have been given eternal life in Jesus Christ, we are doubly responsible to uphold life and to protect life, no matter who's life is at stake.

The Road to Mercy affirms that in a fine piece of story telling.

Thank you Fred and Nora St. Laurent at The Book Club Network, Bookfun.org for my review copy!

A story about healing and mercy  Jan 29, 2014
“The Road to Mercy” is a heartwarming book about a young couple that have a lot of challenges in their lives. Bethany has a life threatening health issue, along with being pregnant. Josh has some problems with his career and staff. The doctor suggests abortion. While both Josh and Bethany struggle with their troubles and stress, neither of them wants to abort the baby. Josh has a tendency to keep things to himself, and Bethany is hiding a secret from Josh. What happens when Bethany courageously steps up and shares? I am not telling!
Kathy Harris has written a great book about how God can take our heartaches, sins and weaknesses, and use them to make us better people. This book encourages us to keep working things out, and to never give up, even when our faith is weak, God is strong. Harris does a wonderful job showing us what true mercy is. It is about complete undeserved forgiveness. It is about a fresh start, a new beginning.
This is a great read.
I received this book free from The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.

You won't be able to put it down  Jan 29, 2014
I Loved This Book! Right from the beginning, I didn’t know what to expect, it clearly is a book that doesn’t fit the formula. Be warned, once you start this book, you will not want to put it down.

Love, forgiveness, sin, challenges, secrets, betrayals, redemption, mercy and most of all… a deep abiding faith in God and His Mercy. Don’t skip the prologue; it will all make sense at the end. The Road To Mercy… well there’s more than one meaning there for sure. This is a great read with a powerful message that you don’t want to miss.

a wonderful story of faith and hope  Jan 26, 2014
Welcome to another page-turner. A Road to Mercy, by Kathy Harris, belongs in the PT category, as I like to call it. It is an excellent story written by a writer who obviously knows her " stuff." She is no amateur and definitely a professional in her field. Kathy Harris writes a gripping story of a Christian country singer, Josh Harrison, whose fame is on the rise. As he travels the entertainment circle, his pregnant wife, Bethany, stays behind, facing a complicated pregnancy. How she wishes Josh could be home with her. As the story develops, they both face crises of faith. Josh also suspects that one of his band members is stealing funds from the performance sales; and Bethany tries to reconcile a regretful decision she made in the past. This is an excellent novel and I highly recommend it. I received this novel free from the author and TheBookClub Network for my honest review. This review can be also found on DeeperShopping, GoodReads, and this site
