Item description for Same Kind Of Different As Me by Ron Hall, Denver Moore & Lynn Vincent...
"Until Miss Debbie, I'd never spoke to no white woman before. Just answered a few questions, maybe-it wadn't really speakin. And to me, even that was mighty risky since the last time I was fool enough to open my mouth to a white woman, I wound up half-dead and nearly blind..."
Meet Denver...
...a man raised under plantation-style slavery in Louisiana in the 1960s; a man who escaped, hopping a train to wander, homeless, for eighteen years on the streets of Dallas, Texas. No longer a slave, Denver's life was still hopeless-until God moved. First came a godly woman who prayed, listened, and obeyed. And then came her husband, Ron, an international arts dealer at home in a world of Armani-suited millionaires. And then they all came together.
But slavery takes many forms. Deborah discovers that she has cancer. In the face of possible death, she charges her husband to rescue Denver. Who will be saved, and who will be lost? What is the future for these unlikely three? What is God doing?
Same Kind of Different As Me is the emotional tale of their story: a telling of pain and laughter, doubt and tears, dug out between the bondages of this earth and the free possibility of heaven. No reader or listener will ever forget it.
...a Hollywood hacienda . . . an upscale New York gallery . . . a downtown dumpster . . . a Texas ranch. Gritty with pain and betrayal and brutality, this true story also shines with an unexpected, life-changing love.

Reviews - What do customers think about Same Kind Of Different As Me?
 | This book is amazing. Highly recommended. Feb 11, 2010 |
| I read this book and found it to be one of the best reads of the last 12 months. The book has been very helpful in showing that we are all different, and yet in many regards we are all the same. And for those in ministry it really helps you understand how to approach your relationships and interactions with those around you. Sure people are people, and they always have the potential to be vexing! But this book does offer some wonderful guidance and teaching that is going to approve your ability to deal with people. I especially recommend this if you are one of those people that gets hurt or upset with your interactions with other people. And even if you are the sort to gloss over other peoples remarks and odd behavior, you will still find this book very helpful. | | | | The world that is right in front of you but you don't see it Dec 30, 2009 |
| This is a great story about a world I thought was long gone. Didn't we all... This man Denver grew up in near slavery and this story about his growth and the transformation of both Denver and the Hall family is truly inspirational. Read it, read it read it! | | | | Better than Obama! Dec 30, 2009 |
| It's no wonder this book is now the number one selling biography in the country. Well written, genuine, real life, tear-jerker... it's a long list. It's an unfortunate insight into a part of the US where a segment of the population still doesn't apologize for decades of indentured servitude. So unless your address still includes the words, "Manor, Mansion, White Columns or Plantation" you will enjoy this book. If you DO live in one of those places, or fly one of those flags, it's good for you to know, the secret is out, we know... | | | | Inspiring story for sure!! Jun 5, 2007 |
| This book was passed onto me by my son, who insisted I read it. Now I can't wait to buy a number of copies for friends. Truly an amazing story that will make you think about others, yourself, and friends and even perhaps change the way you live. Kudos to both authors and their unsung friends. | | | | Best book I've ever read! Jun 2, 2007 |
| I hate to read, and I couldn't put this book down. What an amazing story of men and women who follow the call of God! Read this book! You will want to give it to all of your friends! | | | | Wonderful Book, Wonderful Story May 22, 2007 |
| This story, about two remarkable men and an even more remarkable woman, is a must read for one who wants to be inspired by a true human story. Very inspirational, very moving. | | | | Same Kind of Different As Me May 17, 2007 |
