Reviews - What do customers think about Where Rivers Part (Texas Gold)?

Part of Texas Gold  May 17, 2015
Where Rivers Part, by Kellie Coates Gilbert, is a Texas Gold book. In this book, Juliet Ryan, a doctor, has the goal of helping to provide safe drinking water for people. This determined lady does not always gain the respect of her father, and along her path she encounters scandal which affects many other.

This book deals with many emotions such as tension, forgiveness and love of others. It is very well written and I feel privileged to be allowed to read this book. Baker Publishing once again has found an excellent author and book.

I was given this book by bookfun.org, Baker Publishing and the author in exchange for my honest review.

Enchanting  Apr 13, 2015
This book entranced me the more I read. It honestly took me a little bit to get into it as I was expecting something closer to a sequel to the first Texas Gold book. But when the mystery about where the sickness was coming from gets closer to Julia, I was drawn in and I couldn't put it down. I was waiting to see how it was all going to play out.

Juliet as the main character was a bit hard to deal with at times. I think each character had their moments where I didn't like them. I didn't trust Juliet's boss. She seemed to be a schmoozer. And after the first time, I really didn't care for Greer at all.

I loved the ending of the book but I won't spoil it. I did enjoy learning about food safety and how many people become ill every year is scary.

I would recommend this book to anyone. I received my copy free for my honest review from Books are Fun.org.

Review from Rambles of a SAHM  Feb 22, 2015
They say that truth is stranger than fiction. But when you combine the truth with a bit of fiction you can come up with a fascinating story. That is exactly what Kellie Coates Gilbert has done. She took her experience with the Jack in the Box food poisoning case and let her imagination come up with an enthralling what if story.

Where Rivers Part is labeled as contemporary fiction, but as the story proceeds along it picks up elements of suspense and mystery. I enjoyed A Woman of Fortune, which was the first book in this collection, but I do believe I liked Where Rivers Part even more.

Kellie uses the main character Dr. Juliet Ryan to explore the topics of deep deception and the overriding need to forgive. She uses very real and painful circumstances to tell a story that is sure to hit a nerve with most of us. Without trust in others what do we have?

Here's a little warning . . . after the very satisfying ending there is a teaser for the next book in the collection. I knew better than to read it, but I did and now I'm stuck anxiously waiting!

I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

Corporate Scandal, Betrayal, Forgiveness Thriller  Feb 19, 2015
Kellie Coates Gilbert in her new book, “Where Rivers Part” Book Two in the Texas Gold series published by Revell brings us into the life of Dr. Juliet Ryan.

Like a mighty river with twists and turns and hidden rocks, this engrossing story will sweep you relentlessly along as it fearlessly explores the seduction of success, the fear of giving up control, and the redemptive power of learning to forgive.

Water. Water is a basic necessity of life. Juliet was working to get clean drinking water out to millions. You would never think that there would be a scandal surrounding water. Get ready “Where Rivers Part” is filled with tension and many twist and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Ms. Gilbert has baked greed, deceit, betrayal and corruption into this politically tense corporate scandal thriller. On the flip side of that there is the relationship between Juliet and her father, the nature of forgiveness and salvation. Ms. Gilbert is highly talented and keeps the story moving at a very high level of quality. Ms. Gilbert makes you care for all the characters and their journey. This is also just plain fun and exciting as well. Don’t start this book late at night because it will cost you sleep.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Revell. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”

Another great book by Kellie  Feb 17, 2015
I read the first book in this series and absolutely loved it, much to my surprise. So I wasn’t sure if this book could measure up.

Much like the first book (A Women of Fortune), Where Rivers Part took me about fifty pages before I got into it but once I was in…I was in. This was a book that I had to make myself stop reading so I could sleep.

There is so much deception going on and you don’t know who Juliet can trust.

Juliet is one tough girl. She doesn’t really need anyone, or does she? As things unravel in her world she realizes how being alone really isn’t okay. Yet everyone she thought she could count on is letting her down. She doesn’t know if she really believes in God but when push comes to shove will she finally let him in?

The backstory, the many twists and turns will have your engrossed in this book.

This book is really a stand-alone and does not need to be read with the pervious book. However, Kellie is such a wonderful author I highly recommend reading both :)

A copy of this book was given to me by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Another must read from Kellie Coates Gilbert!  Feb 16, 2015
I first fell in love with Kellie Coates Gilbert's writing when I read her book Mother Of Pearl and I have been hooked, even addicted, ever since. She has such a way of transporting her readers so thoroughly into the lives and hearts of her characters.

The suspense angle in Where Rivers Part was great! And I really enjoyed guessing who was in on it all and who wasn't. There were some people I had pinned but also some real surprises.

I had some reservations about trying out Women's Fiction, I thought it would probably just be fluffy and maybe even a little sappy. Kellie Coates Gilbert more than proved me wrong. These stories are both entertaining and a powerful tool for sharing the power of love and forgiveness.
In Where Rivers Part Juliet's life falls completely apart, anything that can go wrong, does. She has several choices to make and all of them life-changing. When the dust settles where will she stand?

Another great thing about this book is the gorgeous cover! It really draws the eye and inviting you in to partake of the delightful story within the pages.

I really can't say enough positive things about Where Rivers Part, it is a suspenseful story, and a tale of human relationships. Kellie Coates Gilbert has a definite must read in Where Rivers Part!

(I received a copy of this book from Revell in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.)

A great look at corporate plots and schemes.  Feb 16, 2015
The author does a masterful job of introducing her main character, Dr. Juliet Ryan. She starts with a layer that presents her career prowess. During this phase she sneaks in a very brief glimpse at Juliet’s family relationships. After she finishes building that aspect of her character Juliet is at home for dinner with the family. The glimpse we saw earlier is beautifully expanded on, and we are given a peak into her spiritual beliefs. I was so caught up in meeting Juliet I was surprised to find that I hadn't even read 20 pages of the book by this point. I was definitely ready to see what problems Juliet had to face and how she handled them.

The story development was equally well handled. I was drawn into to plot and very involved in seeing how Juliet handled the problems she faced in the corporate world that she lived in.

The only thing that I was a little uncomfortable with was the hints into her personal relationship outside the office. This is the only thing that gave me any pause and caused me to take off one star from my ranking.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

No Sophomore Slump Here  Feb 15, 2015
Where Rivers Part is Kellie Coates Gilbert’s second book in her A Texas Gold Novel series. I do not think they follow each other in anyway as each story is about a woman who is going through some pretty serious circumstances. In this second novel we meet Dr. Juliet Ryan, who is focusing her career on providing safe drinking bottled water for millions of people through the company she was recently hired. Working for Larimar Springs provides her an opportunity to climb the corporate ladder and to show her estranged scientist father that she can make a difference in providing corporations with a way to make food and safety more important than the bottom line. However, when people start getting sick and dying from a pathogen in Texas, all fingers begin pointing at some unsafe food product. Everyone, including Juliet and her father, are put on high alert and Juliet realizes more than ever how alone she really is.
I really enjoyed this second book in the series, I think even more than the first. It was interesting to see the behind the scenes and workings of a corporate business. Not only that, but there was an air of mystery as Juliet begins to uncover some shady business dealings and in her own personal life learning to forgive. I look forward to the next novel in this series. I was provided this book for review by Revell and the opinions are my own.

Excellent contemporary novel...  Feb 14, 2015
SUMMARY:
Dr. Juliet Ryan, providing safe drinking water for millions in her corporate America job, soon finds herself caught up in a scandal. Being desperate enough to need her estranged father to help figure out the ensuing conspiracy, Juliet must confront her past wounds, deepest regrets, and darkest fears. Will she be able to abate the collision before any further damage is done?

A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS:
Another new author for me, Kellie Coates Gilbert had an impact on me. With a strong command of the written language, she definitely kept me turning pages in this contemporary novel. Perhaps just a bit slower to start the story, once all the pieces were set and characters ready, the novel merely flowed. Though Book 2 in the Texas Gold collection, I did not feel as if I was missing any needed information on characters, although, I will now read the first in the series, A Woman of Fortune. I only hope there is another book in the series already in the works!

RATING:
4.5 (out of 5) pennies
