 | Gentle Video for Under 3 Aug 12, 2009 |
The Read and Share Bible DVD is a wonderful children's video. Although my boys (ages 8 and 5) enjoyed it, it is suited for children ages 3 and under. This video presents many stories from the Bible, including: The Beginning, Adam & Eve, The Flood, Abram, Isaac & Rebekah, Jacob & Esau, Rachel, Jacob & God, John the Baptist, Jesus is Born, Jesus is Tempted, Jesus Love Children, and One Lost Sheep. The focus in the video is teaching children that God loves us and He keeps His promises.
The Read and Share Bible DVD is perfect for toddlers. It has simple line art animation, gentle narration and soft background music. The effect is soothing. The stories are just a few minutes long, which is perfect for the attention span of young children.
This is a charming video for children. I think it is great for quiet time or as a Sabbath day activity. As with videos, I believe parents should view it with their children to answer any questions that may arise or to discuss any differences in doctrinal teachings depending upon your sect.
| | | | A fair starter for the Bible Apr 21, 2009 |
My great nephew enjoyed this, but I had a few problems with it. All of the Old Testament that was included was in the book of Genesis. There is much more that they could have used. In fact, it ended with Jacob meeting Esau again. After that, it goes to the birth of John the Baptist.
In the New Testament, there is much that could have been used there as well. I was surprised that The tempting by Satan was in there. Of course, I was also surprised that nothing was in there about his death and resurrection.
The animation was fair, but could have been better. I thought that most of the people looked the same, with slight variations on hair style and hair color. Also, I prefer the classic styles of animation to the computer animation. Of course, that doesn't matter nearly as much to the kids.
All in all, much more could have been done. It was only an hour, including special features. The stories were in 3 minute snippets, which was a good thing. Of course, since the snippets were so short, they could have added much more.
In short: Kids will likely enjoy this DVD, but be prepared to share much more of the Bible with them.
That's just my opinion... | | | | Read and Share DVD - Volume 1 Apr 7, 2009 |
Share the joy and wonder of God's Word with the children in your life.
I am so excited that I am able to review the Read and Share DVD Bible: Volume 1 movie for you all as part of Thomas Nelson Book Reviewers team .
I'm a christian, and I'm always looking for wholesome ways to share the word of God with others, especially children. I feel a special calling on my life as to work in areas where children are involved. So, I'm nit picky as to what christian curriculum or biblical resources that I present and support aiming that it's all biblically accurate.
After watching the Read and Share DVD Bible: Volume 1, I must say I am very pleased, I rated it 5 stars! This is probably best for younger children as the stories are meant to stick to the span of younger children, very simple but stick to the general point. The viewing experience is wonderful as it looks as if we are seeing an actual story book come to life! The colors are bright cheerful which is key when presenting something to young children. The characters in the movie act out what the narrator explains and the music is a perfect fit, light and gentle.
Stories include: The Beginning, Adam & Eve, The Flood, Abram, Isaac & Rebekah, Jacob & Esau, Rachel, Jacob & God, John the Baptist, Jesus is Born, Jesus is Tempted, Jesus Love Children, and One Lost Sheep.
This video is great for family devotion time and even for Sunday School. As each segment you can stop and discuss with your children and answer any questions that they may have.
You can purchase this DVD: (Retails $14.99) at Christianbook.com for $10.99, if you are looking for a steal. It's also available at many Christian bookstores, Powell's Books, Barnes & Nobel, this site and many other places online stores.
| | | | Our Family Luvs this DVD! Apr 2, 2009 |
The DVD Bible has thirteen lessons of scripture starring the Bible's best-known characters which our family recognized and could relate to immediately, making for a Fun, yet Learning experience!
My Kiddo's really liked the animations and music that is integrated into each story. Plus, the stories are not too long, as to keep the attention of your lil' ones.
The stories include: The Beginning, Adam & Eve, The Flood, Abram, Isaac & Rebekah, Jacob & Esau, Rachel, Jacob & God, John the Baptist, Jesus is Born, Jesus is Tempted, Jesus Love Children, and One Lost Sheep.
My Kiddo's favorite story is in fact, the One Lost Sheep! Each story has a valuable lesson to be learned, and Mom likes that!
I would highly recommend this DVD! With Easter right around the corner, this would make a great gift!!

My son is three years old, and is quite the sponge. I hear him repeating back everything he sees on television, which is why it's important that I make sure what he watches is appropriate. Since we don't have cable, it's a little easier to do. I was happy to add this to our growing collection of family movies.
I only have one disappointment in this movie. The stories are mostly narrated, and the characters hardly talk at all. While narration is important to keep the story going, I think kids relate better to characters when there is more dialogue.
With that said, I still think this is a great addition to anyone's collection. It's a great way to bring your favorite bible stories to life, and fun for kids and parents alike. | | | Write your own review about Read And Share Bible V1
