| If you wanted to juice, know how to combine juices for optimal health, were curious about how to get rid of the toxins in your body, this is the book to read. Dr. Colbert writes in a very clear and easy to understand method the how's and why's. He also makes it very easy, with no strange or weird foods how to acheieve your goals. I have read a lot of nutrition and natural healing books including many on detoxing the body. I really enjoyed this book and am following the practices to lead up to the fast. I have fasted before so I'm not worried about the fasting part, but have learned a lot from this book about what to do in order to prepare your body properly before fasting and how to properly break a fast. The book is well organized with lists at the end of each chapter with a recap of recommended supplements and foods while going through the detox. There is also a nice appendix so you can get help in finding products from various health food places. There are recipes if you plan to make your own juice and an alternative to having to make your own juice (thank you for giving an alternative for people who just can't afford to buy a juicer or have time to juice). It all looks pretty easy, I have always fasted with organic juices from the store, but Dr. Colbert says that those are pasteurized and we should go with juicing our own fresh organic fruits and veggies or order a powder from the company listed in the appendix.
I gave it only four stars because I would have liked to see a full index in the book for quickly looking up a specific item. I have had to flip back through trying to remember where it was that I read about a specific supplement or food. I highly recommend this book! | | |  | Good information but... Jan 5, 2007 |
| The book has been well reviewed by the previous writers. My main complaint was the constant repetition of information. When I got to the fast and read that I should already have been following the liver support diet for two weeks, I began searching the first 75 pages to see where the diet was mentioned...no luck! He gets to it near the end of the book. This was pretty frustrating. Dr. Colbert has a convincing and easy-to-read style of writing though the program appears quite expensive to carry out. | It took cancer to wake me up. I now do everything I can to inform my family and friends of the of the importance of a health lifestyle and eating habits. This author also wrote "What you don't know may be killing you" These two books are great to accidently leave at a loved ones home. They are filled with tons of improtant messages and very easy to relate to examples are given that help you understand what actually is happening to your body. My dad has gone from drinking no water to probably half of what he needs but this is a start, he will read more the next time I leave another book by accident... Every man and woman needs to reed this book,because today we all suffer one way or another from what we eat and consume.The book opens our eyes and minds and offers us the weapons we need to win the new age fight with a toxic environment that is no longer out there but it has been absorbed by our internal GI system as well showing its ugly face when we look in the mirror or when we develope chronic or accute conditions that no conventional doctor can explain,and even more so ourselves the ultimate victims of the toxic lifestyle we live.
