This book has become immensely popular, most likely because it makes personal boundaries easier to define and is filled with spiritual purpose. Some cautions: the format can be overly self-helpish for such a complex discussion and the authors at one point imply that judicious spankings may be an acceptable form of setting boundaries with children. This was my bad, I did not see "miniature edition" in the description. I gave it to a young adult friend who is struggling. I hope he doesn't think its a joke. This book had helped me to understand that being a "good Christian" does not mean to give everything I can to dealing with other people's problems. It shows the difference between "boulders" and "knapsacks", the healthy way to deal with both, and signs that I am not dealing with them responsibly. This book helped me to come to terms with suicide attempts by a close friend that I thought were my responsibility to prevent, and to deal with the devastation I felt following her overdose. This book helped me to distinguish between my issues and other people's issues, and helped me to realize my responsibility to take care of myself and set and enforce health boundaries
